The majority of Cisco products declared end of life, no longer require Cisco SmartNet Support due to the OEM no longer providing firmware upgrades. No firmware upgrades = stability of infrastructure being as most Cisco routers and switches will sit happily in a cabinet without the need for patching or upgrades. This in turn allows for the introduction of budget saving 3rd party hardware support.
